StanChart to prune part of operations in India

Standard Chartered (StanChart) Bank, the largest foreign lender in India in terms of branches, has decided to reduce its unsecured retail and corporate business in India as a part of its global restructuring exercise that will cut 15,000 jobs worldwide. India ranked 99 out of 142 countries on a prosperity index, climbing three places from last year, but falling behind one spot in a sub-category that measures personal freedom. India Uber driver given life term for Delhi rape

An Indian court has sentenced an Uber taxi driver to life imprisonment after he was found guilty of raping a female passenger last year in Delhi.
